Operation Safety
Primary 7 had an amazing day at Operation Safety on Tuesday 8th October! Pupils learned a wide range of skills to help keep themselves and others safe, including how to respond if someone is in danger, how to stay SMART online, and how to stay safe on Bonfire Night. They even took part in a quiz about general safety — and won!
Here’s what some of our P7 pupils had to say about their day:
“It was really fun and I had a great time.” – Amina
“It was a really great experience and I learned how to look after someone who has collapsed before I call for an ambulance.” – Ben
“I learned how to be safe on Bonfire Night.” – Faith
It was a fantastic day full of learning, fun, and practical skills that our pupils can use every day!
Maths Week Scotland – P7 Maths Circus
Primary 7 had a fantastic time participating in our Maths Week Scotland celebrations. The class took part in a wide variety of mathematical challenges designed to test their problem-solving skills and perseverance.
One of the highlights was tackling the tricky metal puzzles. They required plenty of patience, and trial and error but pupils rose to the challenge brilliantly, showing determination and creativity in their approaches.
A big thank you goes to Mrs Robinson and Primary 2 for organising such engaging and enjoyable activities for the whole school.
Here’s what some of our pupils had to say about their experience:
⚽ Primary 7 Football – St Andrew’s Tournament ⚽
On Wednesday, a mixed team from St Michael’s took part in the St Andrew’s Football Tournament and had a fantastic—if rather wet—day of football!
Although they were up against some very experienced teams, our players showed real determination and skill. There were excellent individual performances throughout the day, but most importantly, the team represented the school beautifully, displaying great spirit and sportsmanship.
We are very proud of their efforts and especially delighted to see so many soaking but smiling faces at the end of the tournament. Well done, P7!

Primary 7 Try Out Table Tennis! 🏓
Primary 7 had a brilliant time at their Table Tennis Taster session on 10th September. The hall was full of energy, laughter, and plenty of great rallies!
Here’s what some of the pupils had to say:
✨ “I enjoyed seeing where my grandad used to play Table Tennis!” – Lennox
✨ “I really enjoyed learning a new sport and new skills!” – Andi
Everyone gave it their best shot, and there were lots of smiles as they practised serves, rallies, and quick reactions.
A big thank you to Dumfries Table Tennis Club and Active Schools for making the afternoon so much fun. Primary 7 are already asking when they can play again!
Welcome
“Primary 7 are excited to start their final year at St Michael’s. They are looking forward to the extra responsibilities around the school, especially taking care of their Primary 1 buddies and leading their houses. They are ready to work hard this year and get ready to grow up and move on to secondary school!”
